Gaining official approval
for a biological control project has now become essential in most
countries. However, even if this were not the case, seeking general
approval provides an important means of determining
if there are likely to be any conflicts of interest and what may need to be done to
pre-empt or resolve them.
Essentially, this stage involves the preparation and
submission of an application, using previously assembled data, to seek approval
and/or funds from the target country to work on the weed. For
more information on those issues that may need to be addressed, see Approval
to import agents.
