IAPPS Board Member – Zhou Xueping

Professor Zhou Xueping is Director General at the Institute of Plant Protection of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) since 2013. He also serves as Director of the State Key Laboratory for Biology of Plant Diseases and Insect Pests. During the past 30 years, he has made significant contributions for detection of plant viruses and understanding of virus pathogenesis. He has made great achievement in elucidating function of geminiviruses and rice stripe virus encoded proteins, deciphering the mechanism of plant-virus interactions, as well as in engineering genetic plants for viral disease resistance. He raised monoclonal antibodies against more than 40 plant viruses and used them to design sensitive serological methods for virus detection in crops and transmission vectors, and to implement disease control measures.

Professor Zhou has published more than 300 original research articles in international journals, including Trends in Plant Science, Annual Review of Phytopathology, Molecular Plant and PLoS Pathogens. He has received several awards, such as the Natural Science Award of China. He is the Councilor for the International Society for Plant Pathology and Fellow for the American Phytopathology Society. He also acts as an editorial board member for seven professional journals, such as Annual Review of Phytopathology.
