The 'Author' of a Taxon and How is it Applied
The author of a taxon is the family name of the person that first
described the taxon. The authors' name is used (with first letter upper
case in standard type) following the scientific name when first referred
to in a document. The author's name is placed in brackets if, after
taxonomic revision, the species is placed in a genus different from the
one used by the author for description of the species or subspecies.
