Once approval to import the pathogen is given, it is transported in a double metal container. Under normal circumstances, prior to release in the field, the pathogen is reared through one or more generations in quarantine, in the recipient country, to make sure that it is not contaminated with other fungi, particularly parasites, such as Darluca sp. In some circumstances, this step may be waived if the exporting organisation guarantees that the culture is pure.
